We are delighted to invite you to attend the Grace Studios Performance Speaking Showcase.
This is a voluntary, internal studio competition, which will provide students with the opportunity to perform for an audience and to showcase their work for parents.
Class learning objectives for all groups in term two have focused on communication and public speaking technique. Every student participating in group drama classes will complete the term with a performance speaking piece ready to show their parents, regardless of their decision to participate in this more formal event.
Students wishing to perform on the night will need to utilise a ‘performance speaking style' (this is less formal and more high impact). Students can speak on any topic of their choosing, and will be assessed on how effectively they ‘entertain’ their audience. Time limits will be kept short – quality over quantity!
We also encourage students who may not want to take to the stage to come along as spectators and support their friends. Public speaking can seem scary, but it can also be lots of fun!
A special prize will be awarded on the night to one student from each age category. Award recipients will be selected by our special guests. Please be aware, this is not a ‘competitive’ event. Awards will be given for ‘entertainment value’ to recognise students with originality, pizzazz and those who have a lot of fun!
Adjudicators: Local representatives including Mayor Carmelo Pesce, local MP Lee Evans and Councillor Diedree Steinwall
